07/03/18 – CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Benjamin has been awarded the ‘Orphée d’or’ as best interpreter for Lieder in Paris. His first Sony Classical album ‘HEIMAT’ was nominated by the french ’L’Académie du disque lyrique’ and the jury gave him the ‘Prix Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’. This particularly means a lot to Benjamin.
14/2/2018 – Benjamin visits India
After performing in Mumbai in November 2016 Benjamin returns for an extended Indian tour to perform five different recital programmes. One highlight will be the collaboration with the Symphony Orchestra of India singing Mahler‘s ‘Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen‘. 3/12/2017 – ZDF Advent concert with Benjamin Appl, Diana Damrau and Christian Thielemann
Baroque splendor and festive music in one of the most beautiful churches in Germany: With this, the Advent concert from the Frauenkirche in Dresden will also be in tune with the pre-Christmas season this year. The brilliant concert will feature soprano Diana Damrau and young international career-making baritone Benjamin Appl. The musical director of the concert is Christian Thielemann. 11/01/2016 – Today Benjamin Appl replaces Luca Pisaroni at such short notice at Wigmore Hall
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Luca Pisaroni and Wolfram Rieger are no longer able to take part in this concert. Therefore Benjamin gets the chance to perform a third concert within one week at Wigmore Hall and will present an wonderful all Schubert programme together with Jonathan Ware (piano).

29/10/2015 – ECHO Rising Star Benjamin Appl starts his concert tour across concert halls in Europe
Benjamin Appl was nominated by the Barbican Centre London as an ECHO Rising Star and will start his 17-stop European tour today in London including a group of Schubert songs, a cycle by Grieg and the world premier of a new commission work by Nico Muhly. During the ECHO tour Benjamin will be accompanied by two of the UK’s leading song pianists, James Baillieu and Gary Matthewman. The ECHO tour will take them between October 2015 and July 2016 to venues including the Barbican (London), Bozar (Belgium), Philharmonie de Paris (France), The Sage Gateshead (UK), Konzerthaus Dortmund (Germany), Laeiszhalle (Germany), Gulbenkian Grand Auditorium (Portugal), Stockholms Konserthus (Sweden), Birmingham Town Hall (UK), Philharmonie (Luxembourg), Wiener Konzerthaus (Austria), Müpa (Budapest), Fundação Casa da Música (Portugal), Palau de la Musica Catalana (Barcelona), Philharmonie Cologne (Germany), Concertgebouw Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Festspielhaus Baden-Baden (Germany).

03/09/2015 – BBC Proms debut with Brahms and Orff
On 1st of September Benjamin Appl made his Proms debut with the Orchestra of Enlightenment conducted by Marin Alsop at the Royal Albert Hall. Benjamin performed Brahms‘ Triumphlied (op. 55) with the Choir of Enlightenment. You can hear that performance on BBC iPlayer. click here

17/02/2015 – New CD Release
In October 2013 Benjamin Appl recorded the four Schumann’s Harper songs from Op. 98a and two duets together with Dame Ann Murray, accompanied by Malcolm Martineau. These songs are part of a Lieder album of Dame Ann Murray, who is one of the great singers of the past decades, and this release will be her final Lieder recording. The disc also includes duets with John Mark Ainsley (tenor) and Johnny Langridge (tenor) and Hester Dickson at the piano. click here…

Benjamin Appl appears on BBC Radio 3 with a complete performance of Schubert’s Winterreise, which he has recorded at Maida Vale Studios for the BBC as their New Generation Artist in December 2014. Together with pianist Joseph Middleton he can be heard on Boxing Day, 26/12/2014, around 18.30. Further you can listen to Benjamin Appl performing Schubert’s Harper songs on December 25 2014 at 17.45 and Schumann’s Liederkreis op 24 on December 31 2014 at 17.45. BBC Radio 3’s drive-time show In Tune on Wednesday 10 September 2014 announced BBC Radio 3’s 2014 New Generation Artists – six artists from around the globe that BBC Radio 3 believes will be the classical music stars of the future. Benjamin Appl was chosen as one of them.
